Oliver Wagner

Oliver Wagner

Oliver Wagner was born in 1969 in Zurich, Switzerland, and relocated to Sydney, Australia in 2012 where he currently lives and works. His practice is an ongoing investigation into expanded painting, centred upon his fascinating rematerialisation of acrylic house paint into dust. Wagner’s unique adaptation of painting results in fixed and ephemeral compositions on linen, as well as ephemeral installations.

Wagner completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours at The National Art School in Sydney, and subsequently a Master of Fine Arts at the same institution in 2017. His work has been exhibited in local and international group shows in Sydney, New York, and Paris, including the 2021 Tarra Warra Biennial; the 2018 Redlands Konica Minolta Art Prize at National Art School Gallery, Sydney; and Rate of Change, 2018 at COMA, Sydney. Wagner’s work is held in public and private collections nationally, including The National Art School Collection, Sydney and Artbank Australia.
