Jelena Telecki
Jelena Telecki was born in Yugoslavia in 1976 and relocated to Australia in 1999. She currently lives and works in Sydney. Since 2007, Telecki has been making and exhibiting representational paintings and sculptures that articulate the politics of personal and shared narratives.
Telecki has exhibited extensively in Australia, England, and Japan. A major new suite of her paintings was exhibited in the 2022 Adelaide Biennial. Recent solo exhibitions include pleasurable, the illegible, the multiple, the mundane at Artspace, Sydney (2021);_ _Incidental Collaborators (2020) at Sarah Cottier Gallery, Sydney; Not Coming Andersson (2018) at Firstdraft Gallery, Sydney and Bubble diagrams (2017) at Artspace Ideas Platform, Sydney. Notable group exhibitions include Gymnasium (2020), SCA Galleries, Sydney; Outside my window (online, 2020), Art Gallery of New South Wales (AGNSW), Sydney; RONDO (2020), Sarah Cottier Gallery, Sydney; NSW Visual Arts Fellowship (2019), Artspace, Sydney; John Fries Award (2018), UNSW Galleries; and NEW14 (2014), Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA), Melbourne. Telecki has been awarded several grants and residencies including a one-year studio residency at Artspace, Sydney in 2019; the University of Sydney Postgraduate Award in 2008-2009; and the Australia Council for the Arts grant for the development of new work in 2021 and 2010. Her work is held in public and private collections nationally including the Art Gallery of NSW, Sydney; Artbank, Sydney; and The Australian War Memorial, Canberra.
